Street Photography - Perth #3

Perth, Western Australia, ©Piotrek Ziolkowski, 2013

Anyone interested in Street Photography knows how important it is to follow one's gut feeling or rather impulse to take a photo. The reaction time has to be very short and doesn't allow for much thinking. Things happen lightning fast and if you blink, pause or hesitate... often - the moment is gone. Side effect of this type of very fast, reactive photography is unexpected elements in one's photographs.

I photographed a delivery guy zooming past me and it wasn't till a few weeks later when I noticed the way all this random strangers are frozen mid synchronized stride... What are the chances?

Update, for some reason Google really likes this blog post of my Perth street photographs. Looking back at them I feel, I'd shoot some of them differently. Some of them wouldn't make their way into my favorite street shots category anymore. I don't prowl the streets as often as I'd like these days. Working professionally as a photographer ironically made me shoot less street work. On the other hand I think I'm more selective now, see more and better.

Alex Webb, Elliot Erwitt and Maciej Dakowicz are street photographers which I admire the most right now. Alex Webb for his approach towards the genre, Elliot Erwitt for capturing the strange, bizarre and funny of the seemingly normal life. Maciej Dakowicz is a young guy currently establishing himself in the small world of street photography. Him for a lot of reasons - same background but mostly for his work. He finds the same things interesting, but he shoots them better :)
