International Wedding Photographer of the Year 2020 Finalist
It seems everyone is an Award Winning Wedding Photographer these days :) All you need to do is a quick Google Search for “Perth award-winning wedding photographers’ and bam … pages of Award Winning Photographers. This is one of the reasons I’ve been hesitant to say it about myself or my work… Because does it matter? Does anyone care?
Yesterday I got some very exciting news and it made me think again about wedding photography contests and awards in general. Well, it turns out, one of my pre-wedding photos was one of the highest-scoring photos in that category in the 2020 International Wedding Photographer of the Year contest. I was surprised and happy at the same time as I’ve forgotten I entered :)
So there it is, I’m happy and a little proud of myself, but the question still remains. Do contests and awards matter? Honestly, I don’t know but I think contests are a way to self evaluate my wedding photography. A lot of what I do comes from within, I follow my instinct very often when I shoot. And I guess, it’s nice to be appreciated :)
I still don’t know if I’ll call myself Perth Award Winning Wedding Photographer but I think I’ll keep entering :) Here’s the photo
So, what other stuff have I won or accomplished as a Wedding Photographer? Well, recently one of my Bridal Portraits went around the world on Looks Like Film Facebook and Instagram page. It has also been featured in this collection of 85 Magical Bridal Portraits Another of my shots been feature on Photobug Community Blog 2018 has been pretty big too. I got to be among the Top 5 Emerging Wedding Talents in Australia by Capture Magazine, scored 3 Silver AIPP Awards and got my work featured in a proper photography magazine Photoreview There you go :) Only if you care about that sort of stuff…
