Cool and funky Fremantle for some funk and cool. I can't think of any other other place where it would be possible to incorporate games, comic books and a healthy dose of SF into a photoshoot so easily. I was just following the light and kept my eyes open. Bianca and Troy did the rest. They were actually chasing Pokemons on their way to meet me :) Even cooler things are coming :)

Engagement shoots are a big part of what I do. For most couples wedding day is stresfull enough without added camera performance anxiety.

Some places just scream love and romance. Tuscany is one of them. Photographing a wedding here was a mind-blowing experience. It must be so easy to be a wedding photographer in Italy :)

It all started at Hainault Winery in Bickley Valley For those who don't know me... I'm a Perth wedding photographer who blends fine art and documentary approach to weddings. This is my blog/journal :) Gemma and Alan are into wine. They also like Perth Hills. A decision to go to Bickley Valley for their pre-wedding session (I call them Be yourselves sessions) was a bit of a no-brainer. Only 30 minutes from Perth and one feels like in Margs. Swan Valley is quite nice too, but to be honest, its' not much of a valley. Hainoult Winery was a surprise find. It's not the easiest to find but one you're there, it's great. Friendly atmosphere, good wine and an awesome view on an actual valley. They do weddings too, so get in touch before they get popular and expensive ;) We all got a bottle of something for later.

City Beach Engagement

Sam and Kat are getting married in Perth Hills in a few weeks. We got together for a relaxed session in Fremantle. I got to know them and Hugo a little better. For some strange reason I wasn't expecting wild flowers. But I was happy to see them. I always like discovering little things about people I photograph, their little stories. Kat spend a lot of time wrapped in Sam's big arms that day :)

It takes two to tango, and it takes two for a moment like this. I think it's very easy to make someone laugh but very difficult to make someone "feel" in front of the camera.

Engagement or "Be Yourselves" sessions are part of my every wedding package for a very good reason. People show genuine emotions only if they trust the person behind the camera. Moments over poses!

I love using light to create quirky images that make you stop and look. Alison and Billy illuminated by the last rays of sun.

Lamont's Bishops House is where Jo and Oliver are going to get married. We spent the whole hour talking and getting to know eachother a bit better. I'm always interested in the stories people tell me about themeselves. Who made the first move is one of my favourite. Quite often it's the girl actually ;)

A pre-wedding couple session on City Beach by Piotrek Ziolkowski. Sometimes my crazy photo ideas work much better than anticipated. Architecture combined with perfect light.

It takes a while to get comfortable in front of the camera. I want you to be relaxed and happy on the wedding day and I want you to trust me. This is how I do it: we meet before the wedding and spend some time together. Me, you two and my camera. Just be yourselves and show me who you are.

Secret Be Yourselves session in North Fremantle Lizzy and Sam live in the same place where I used to live a few years ago. Right on the shore of Swan River where you can still see dolphins almost every day. This bit of North Fremantle is nicely wedged between the ocean and river, water is always close by. There's an air of old days in the area. It was great to re-visit the shore in preparation for the session. Most people have to travel to be photographed. All Lizzy and Sam had to do was meet me at the front of the building :) There's many images here where Lizzy's hair almost blends in with the light of the sunset. It looks like gold on gold :) I'd like to say more about the session but I can't. It's easy to say to much and spoil things to come.

Here's another awesome couple from Singapore visiting Perth. Jesper is a cadet pilot so when Joelle approached me to organize a cool couple session, I got a little excited. Photography is just like everything else, the more you put into it, the more you get out. I wanted this couple shoot to be unique, have the "Australian" feel to it and include the story. Airport and planes was the first and obvious idea but it proved a little difficult to pull off. In the end a bit of luck, daring and goodwill of strangers made it possible for us to spend some time at the Jandakot Airport. And it was awesome :) I wanted the pictures to be a bit of an emotional and physical journey. The beginning was spontaneous fun and a little adventurous. The end was romantic and emotive. I was smiling to myself many times while I was editing the session.

Nature was trying to make things difficult for us that day. Swan River just burst its banks. Things were closed and walking was required. A lot of walking. It was a Valentine's Day of 2017. Clare is a photographer by the way. I always feel honoured when a fellow photographer picks me to photograph their wedding. We had such a great time. Images were flowing. Moments over poses people!

Isaac grew up on a farm in Perth Hills. Fran comes from Brazil. The same farm will be the setting for their wedding. To say we had lots of fun together would be a an understatement. Fran got a glimpse of what is it like to live on a farm and a lesson in shooting and four wheel driving. Some wine was involved :)

I will admit a bit of luck was involved here. I was waiting for the right moment but I didn't expect to catch Sarah mid-air. Everything is perfect about this shot. The light, the moment, smiles, the way Rich is looking at Sarah, shoelaces flying in the air.

Fremantle is one of the best engagement photography locations in Western Australia. This cool engagement session is a perfect example.

I love to photograph couple in places where they feel comfortable. In places with meaning. Kent Street Weir and the banks of Canning river is such place for Lauren and Simon.

It's a place where ocean stops and the river begins. The weir separates two ecosystems and slows the mixing of water.

There something peaceful in the lazy current of the river and it's small size. On a warm day all you need is a blanket, something to eat and maybe an ice-cream. Life's little pleasures seem not so little on a day like this.

Weddings in Hong Kong are a little different to what we normally do in Perth. They are more about the family and a bit less about fun. So Alvan and Sarah decided to treat themselves to some pre-wedding fun while visiting Perth. We mixed adventure and love with some of the best locations in and around Perth.

This is such a great photo on many levels. The moment I saw this place I knew I could create something very interesting for Sarah and Rich. This was the first image I planned for their engagement session. The last one was even more interesting :)
