Intimate Rottnest Island Elopement / Ash and Troy

One of the perks of winter elopements (or weddings) in Perth is tranquillity. Rottnest Island was wonderfully empty, it felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. Even the Quokkas seemed more chill...

Ash and Troy planned a proper-modern elopement: no one knew it was happening and there were only 5 essential people present: Troy and Ash, Myself the photographer, Kate the celebrant and Gary the electric car driver. Why essential you might ask :) Well, to get legally married you will need 2 people wanting to get married, 2 witnesses and the celebrant.

Being a part of this elopement was truly a privilege. As a photographer, my goal always is to capture authentic and genuine moments that reflect the raw emotions of the day. This becomes so much more important when there are so few people involved.

I've shot a few elopements or small weddings on Rotto and it's always a pleasure to be back. There is something special about small islands and Rottnest in particular. I can't quite put my finger on it but I think it's how quickly the scenery can change.

Raw emotions are timeless and powerful. They are what make each love story unique and captivating. Photography has the ability to freeze fleeting moments and eternalize them. It allows us to relive those beautiful memories again and again.

And if you're thinking of an Elopement on Rottnest Island... drop me a line. Depending on the time of year I can fine-tune the plan to take full advantage of the light, locations and ferry times. We will need transport to maximize the time as well :)
